MCP For libvips
Over the past weekend I decided to play around with writing an MCP server and I settled on creating one for the libvips image manipulation library to help me cut out images out of a bigger images and just to get some practice with Typescript and do a little work in the AI world. What I came up with was pretty cool and I can see it being useful to a lot of non-coders that are using something like Cursor or Claude Desktop.
Here’s a video of it in action:
I imagine this tool is pretty useful for, for example, a content editor that often wants to adjust images a bit but doesn’t have the tools or isn’t trained with the tools to be able to do that themselves. For things like cropping, updating sizes, adjusting colours, and other simple tasks, this could be a huge time saver.
